Knee Surgery

Last summer while Ben was playing softball, he slid into second base and heard his knee make a popping sound. His knee hurt a little but he's not one to rush to the doctor. He decided to wait and see if it would heal on its own. Ben has never been lucky at anything. That's not an exaggeration. He always gets behind the people driving ten miles per hour UNDER the speed limit, he hits every stop light when it's red, he always picks the line that takes the longest, and he always buys the one product that is broken or has a vital piece missing from the box. That said, his knee never healed, and he went to see a doctor. Now we're here, Febuary 1, and he had to have an arthroscopic meniscectomy. (he tore his meniscus, it requires surgery) We had to be at the hospital this morning at 6:30. UGH! Thankfully Brian and Katie let Simon and Nolan sleep over. Surgery prep, the actual surgery, and the recovery time was only about two hours. That was a blessing because I don't think Bella could have handled much more. The funny thing was Ben while he was still drugged up from the anesthesia! He was telling really corny jokes, and he kept trying to get the nurse to let him stay at the hospital and sleep for three or four hours. I told him I wasn't staying that long, and he told me I could go shopping while he slept! Wahoo! My joy, however, was short lived. He quickly told me that I could have a budget of five bucks. Even when he's on drugs he has a tight grip on that wallet! Needless to say, the surgery went well. He will have to stay laying down for about three days. For him, that will be hard, but he is surviving.

We are really glad that all went well with the surgery! That is no fun at all. Let us know if you need anything!
